Mediation
Mediation for Separation or Divorce
Separation and divorce are among the most difficult experiences a couple can face, often bringing emotional strain, uncertainty, and concern for the wellbeing of children. At Couples' Counselling, we provide a supportive alternative through professional mediation. Our mediators are experienced psychotherapists and registered members of the Mediators' Institute of Ireland. They are also qualified in child-inclusive mediation, which means the focus is not only on the separating couple but on the family as a whole. This approach ensures that the voices and needs of children are considered throughout the process, helping families move forward in a healthier and more balanced way.

Mediation has been shown to be one of the most effective and promising tools for resolving separation and divorce. It offers couples a far more constructive and respectful process than court proceedings, with both parties actively participating in shaping their own agreements. Because mediation is based on cooperation rather than conflict, outcomes are more practical, sustainable, and family-focused. It is also significantly less costly—both financially and emotionally—than the court system. Most importantly, mediation creates long-term benefits: parents are better able to co-parent, children experience less conflict, and families can move forward with dignity, clarity, and respect.
